Oban, Inverary Castle & Loch Lomond – Friday 17 May 2019

Includes on board tour guide!

Join your dedicated tour guide on board our executive coach, sit back, relax and enjoy light refreshments as we travel North West towards Oban.

The town of Oban is so much more than a port – it’s a thriving town. Enjoy free time to explore the seaside streets, try samples in the chocolate shop and distillery, visit the town’s fascinating museum, and fill up on a lunch of the freshest seafood.

We then travel on towards Inveraray Castle. This impressive building has been standing on the shores of Loch Fyne since the 1400s, although the castle we know today was inspired by a sketch by Vanbrugh, the architect of Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard in the 1700s.

Vanbrugh died soon afterwards, but the great architect’s gem of an idea became the base of the house which the 3rd Duke was eventually to build. The foundation stone was laid in 1746 and what followed was the construction of a truly modern, Baroque, Palladian and Gothic style castle, architecturally before its time.

As we head back towards Fife, we travel through the beautiful Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
